  78. Hi, Finance! is a powerful Windows tool for planning personal or
  79. business finances.  To date, Hi, Finance! has been top-rated by

  192. INSTALLATION
  193. I.  If you downloaded Hi, Finance! in compressed form:
  194.  
  195.     1.  Copy the files into a temporary directory.  The
  196.         preferred file name is "HIFIN251.ZIP" (or "HIFIN.ZIP"
  197.         on CompuServe).  You might find the ".ZIP" extention
  198.         replaced by "EXE" or some other extension.
  199.  
  200.     2.  If the files have an ".EXE" file extension, they should
  201.         be self-extracting: just type the file name to decompress
  202.         into the temporary directory.
  203.  
  204.         File sets with "ZIP" extensions require the use of
  205.         PKUNZIP or compatible decompression utilities.  These
  206.         should be available on the BBS where you downloaded
  207.         Hi, Finance! (or the Brightridge BBS (423-246-7212).
  208.         Make sure you unzip all the files to the same temporary
  209.         directory (which can be deleted after installation is
  210.         complete.)
  211.  
  212.         If you find files with extentions other than ".ZIP" or
  213.         ".EXE", ask the Sysop what you're supposed to do to
  214.         extract the application files.
  215.  
  216.     3.  Run Windows.  There are several ways to start Install.
  217.         In Windows 3.1 Program Manager, select "File"
  218.         and then "Run".  This should pop up a dialog box.  In
  219.         the entry box, type "<dir>:INSTALL.EXE", where <dir> is
  220.         the directory where the Hi, Finance! files are located.
  221.         In Windows 95, use the "Start" button and the use "Run" as
  222.         above.
  223.  
  224.         For example: C:\TEMP\INSTALL.EXE
  225.  
  226.         From the File Manager (or Explorer), you may use an
  227.         similar process, although you may skip the path information
  228.         ("c:\temp\") if you're already in that directory.  The easiest
  229.         way is to use "File" "Open" on the INSTALL.EXE file using the
  230.         graphical directory management of File Manager or Explorer, or
  231.         simply double-click on "INSTALL.EXE".
  232.  
  233.     4.  The installation program will propose C:\HIFINANC as the
  234.         default directory.  You may change the drive and
  235.         directory.  Setup will also create a subdirectory off
  236.         the main Windows directory in which it will place
  237.         runtime files.  This location should not be changed!
  238.         Follow screen prompts.
  239.  
  240.     5.  The program will create a Program Manager group (or
  241.         Start Programs menu item in Windows 95) and place
  242.         icons for Hi, Finance! and related files in it.
  243.  
  244.     6.  You may now start Hi, Finance! by double-clicking on its
  245.         icon, selecting HIFINANC.EXE in File Manager or Explorer.

  248. II.  If you received Hi, Finance! on diskette:
  249.  
  250.     1.  If you have more than one diskette, follow the instructions
  251.         from the disk vendor.
  252.  
  253.     2.  Otherwise, place the diskette in the appropriate floppy
  254.         drive.

  256.     3.  Proceed with installation as outlined in steps 3-6 in
  257.         part I, using the appropriate drive letter.
